Solo Bueno

Every architect dreams of designing a home with zero compromises — a house shaped entirely around how they actually want to live. For Kevin Pfirman, that home is Solo Bueno, a personal residence built along the Wilmington North Carolina coast.

The design reflects two decades spent studying coastal architecture paired with a lifelong pull toward the water, the outdoors, and the arts. Rather than setting aside a single room for it, Pfirman designed the entire home to function as a gallery — every wall, hallway, and sightline considered as a place for art to live alongside the family. At the pool, an expansive door dissolves the line between inside and out entirely, opening the living space directly onto the deck and water beyond. A great porch, boardwalk, and sun shelf carry that same indoor-outdoor ease throughout the property, while a living green roof ties the home back into its landscape.

Sterling Custom Construction brought this home to life, executing Pfirman’s construction documents with close attention to detail resulting in a residence that reflects the same craftsmanship and care found throughout Sterling’s portfolio of custom coastal homes.
